11: Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis

Wendy Cope:

London: Faber And Faber, 1986

8vo, first edition, paperback issue, original printed wrappers, spine slightly faded

The first collection of the people’s perennial choice for Poet Laureate, who is nicely described by Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, as “the wittiest of contemporary English poets, who says a lot of extremely serious things". Cope, who detests being labelled a writer of “light verse", would no doubt agree, were she not so modest.

Wendy Cope was awarded a Cholmondeley Award in 1987.

Annotated on 26 pages. Approximately 370 words.
